IsoMetrix Sustainability Executive Robin Bolton is looking forward to speaking at this year’s The Joburg Indaba.
The popular mining industry event, taking place on 7 and 8 October this year, is hosted by Resources for Africa and draws together industry leaders, influential CEOs, and investors to map the way forward and unlock the value in Africa’s resources and mining sectors. The conference, now in its eighth year, will be held online for the first time, due to Covid-19. The Joburg Indaba is highly regarded as an influential platform from which to address issues affecting stakeholders in the mining industry. This year South African and international experts will share their perspectives on how the industry can be revitalized once the Covid-19 pandemic is over.
We at IsoMetrix are proud to be a key sponsor, and Bolton will speak on the importance of keeping on top of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, which will give context to the new ESG software solution we have released. This software will help users manage risk and ease the reporting burden.
Robin is thrilled to be part of the exciting indaba line-up and will be speaking on October 8 at 11h20 (SAST). “I will be sharing my experience and insight on ESG, gained from engaging with mining companies and other industries as well as from designing and implementing ESG solutions,” he says.
Robin’s presentation will cover:
- How mining companies are incorporating ESG into their corporate strategy
- What factors are driving the increased focus on ESG and how Covid-19 has influenced this
- How mining companies are mitigating ESG risks
- How the mining sector’s ESG policies compare to those of other industries and what the mining industry needs to do to make its ESG approaches stand out
This year’s conference will be chaired by mining sector consultant Bernard Swanepoel and include prominent industry speakers such as Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe; Anglo American plc Chief Executive Mark, Cutifani; Mark Bristow, President and CEO of Barrick Gold Corporation; Deloitte Managing Director of Emerging Markets & Africa, Dr. Martyn Davies; Nolitha Fakude, Chair of Anglo American South Africa’s Management Board, and Boipelo Lekubo, Harmony Gold's Financial Director.
