IsoMetrix was honored to have three customers shortlisted for awards at the Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA) Awards Gala, held on Friday, 3 November 2017.
IRMSA encourages the industry to identify individuals who are doing exceptional work within the Risk Management space, as well as teams, projects or initiatives and nominate them for an IRMSA Award.
IsoMetrix nominated three of its customers in recognition of their outstanding risk management initiatives:
Hernic Ferrochrome in the category: “Mining & Quarrying”
Senwes in the category: “Agriculture, Forestry & Fishing”.
Modikwa Platinum Mine in the category: “Mining & Quarrying”
Both Senwes and Hernic Ferrochrome took home awards in their respective categories. Alfred Pawson, Information Technology Manager at Hernic and Chris Koch, from Senwes received the awards on behalf of their teams.
Senwes is an agricultural business that focuses on the provision of production inputs primarily to grain producers, as well as market access for agricultural produce. This is strategically coupled with the provision of value added services, which include, amongst others, financing, insurance, and agricultural technical services.
Previously Senwes was calculating their quantitative risks using spreadsheet-based systems that were not able to provide real-time information. The project goal was to replace these spreadsheets with a centralized, electronic system that would provide real-time risk assessment information based on a wide range of key risk indicators.
The implementation of the IsoMetrix Risk Managment solution has enabled Senwes to have real-time dashboards reflecting quantitative risks across the business
Hernic Ferrochrome (Pty) Ltd is the world’s 4th largest integrated ferrochrome producer based in the North West Province, South Africa. It is located in a part of the western limb of the Bushveld Complex which is one of the world‘s largest chrome ore deposits. Hernic operates four furnaces including the largest ferrochrome furnace in the world.
Hernic Ferrochrome has implemented the IsoMetrix EHS management solution, and tightly integrated it with biometric technology to control access to its site for any employees or contractors who do not have adequate training or permits or have not passed the required medical examinations.
Paul Marketos, director at IsoMetrix, commented: “We are extremely proud of Hernic and Senwes. Each company has taken a very different approach to risk management and both have been extremely successful in their approaches. That our software was able to facilitate this is very rewarding. This is what gets us out of bed in the mornings: helping to drive good business – business that is profitable, safe and with minimal impact on the environment.”
