IsoMetrix is hosting a breakfast seminar to explore these questions in detail. We are delighted to have as a guest speaker one of the senior members of the King Committee on Corporate Governance, Dr Len Konar.

Dr Len Konar – Member of King Committee on Corporate Governance
Doctor Len Konar is a chartered accountant and was previously executive director of the Independent Development Trust where he was, amongst other activities, responsible for Internal Audit and the Investments Portfolios. Prior to that, he was Professor and Head of the Department of Accountancy at the University of Durban-Westville. He also lectured to graduate students at various South African Universities.
He is a member of the King Committee on Corporate Governance, the Corporate Governance Forum, the SA Institute of Directors and the USA National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD).
Dr Konar is also an independent non-executive director of Alexander Forbes, Sappi, Lonmin plc, Steinhoff International Holdings, Chairman of ORCA, Chairman of OMIGSA and EXXARO Resources. He also chairs or serves on some of these Audit Committees as well as other listed boards, locally and internationally.
He is the past Chair of the Ministerial Panel for the Review of Accountants and Auditors in South Africa, leading to the publication of the Auditing Profession Act, 2005, past co-chair of the Independent Oversight Panel of the World Bank (2009 – 2010) and the past Chairman and member of the External Audit Committee of the International Monetary Fund in Washington (2004 – 2007), as well as a member of the 2010 Safeguards Panel of the IMF, and a past ad hoc panel member of the Ethics Panel of the United Nations Ethics Committee.
He has participated in seminars and workshops internationally and also published journal articles and contributions to books. Len is currently a long-standing presenter on the Executive Leadership Development Programme at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), a supervisor to MBA candidates and a mentor to PhD candidates at GIBS.

Cecilia Jofré – Sales Director, IsoMetrix
Cecilia is Sales Director at IsoMetrix. She is fluent in four languages, has a Masters in Administration Science from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina and is member of the Institute of Directors of Southern Africa (IoDSA). She is a past member of the Ethics Institute of SA and Businesswoman Association of South Africa.
She is a GRC professional with over 25 years’ experience; gained in a variety of senior and executive positions in blue chips Arthur Andersen, IBM and Standard Bank, as well as in private middle-size companies. Cecilia has a deep passion for and understanding of corporate governance and sustainability. She is a co-founder of CGF Research Institute (Pty) Ltd, where she served as a Director, and served on the Board of FIHRST Management Services, a joint venture between Standard Bank and Alexander Forbes.
Cecilia assisted the IoDSA in launching its Governance Assessment Instrument for King III and has lectured on Board duties in a variety of forums.
